Arundel Habitat for Humanity - Annapolis, MD Project

Purple Cherry Architects worked with Arundel Habitat to develop two different designs for townhomes to be constructed in Annapolis, MD. Because of site constraints, the project will consist of both two and three story homes. The 1,300 SF two-story home has three bedrooms and the 1,950 SF three-story home has the possibility of four bedrooms, one of which is in the finished basement. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides affordable housing to families who would otherwise be living in substandard conditions. Careful consideration is being given to the design of the homes making them functional to a variety of family situations. The open floor plan on the main living floor offers ultimate flexibility in use, while efficient layout and design affords generous bedrooms on the upper floor. This project adds another layer of complexity in that the homes will be Energy Star certified and are on track to become certifiably LEED silver as well. Sustainable housing has benefits not only to the earth and environment but to the homeowners as well. Smartly designed, durably built, well insulated, energy efficient homes will cost less to maintain and operate while providing superior comfort to the occupants.
