Due to zoning restrictions on the property, this 7,000 SF waterfront home required extensive renovations to the existing house. Using portions of the foundation and only a few walls, the new shingle style home was developed to meet the needs of the new owners. Having a large family, the clients desired a casual and comfortable home with a well-developed view of the water and existing pool to support outdoor living. The floor plan combined a modern desire for open spaces with the old fashioned connections of cozy closed rooms to allow for privacy or to be part of the activity. Many of the interior design decisions were made to create a level of organization and independence for the growing children. The detached garage with an independent upstairs suite provides the ability for friends and relatives to visit without adding to the general hubbub of a very busy home.
