Purple Cherry Architects is Associate Architect for New MNCPPC Headquarters

August 02, 2010

The new Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission's (MNCPPC") Division Headquarters Building has been awarded to Architects Design Group ("ADG"), an architectural firm located in Winter Park, Florida, with Purple Cherry Architects serving as Associated/Local Architect for the project.  ADG has completed numerous public safety headquarters facilities throughout the U.S. (To learn more about Architects Design Group, visit www.adgusa.org.)  The new $6.7 million, 35,000 SF headquarters will be located in Capitol Heights, MD and will incorporate sustainable design elements.  The new division headquarters facility will accomodate the following entities:  The Prince George's County Division of Park Police, which includes the Office of the Division Chief, Field Operations, Support Operations and Investigative Operations and a new Information Technology / Communications Division, which manages the databases of the MNCPPC.  Because of the highly specialized needs of designing a law enforcement and IT / Data Center facility, the Commission has recognized the need to hire an architectural firm with this specialized experience to handle the task.  ADG and Purple Cherry Architects will perform a needs assessment, programming, master planning and design services in a multi-phased approach.

Co-locating the Park Police Headquarters and Information Technology Division will not only enhance Public Safety services, it offers multiple cost-effective solutions for the Commission," said ADG President Keith Reeves.  "Both functions require secure storm-hardened envelopes and they share a technological "back-bond" of high-tech information data networks, and need for redundant 100% continuously operating environmental systems in case of a utility network shut-down."  "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to be teamed with ADG as Associated Architect on this very exciting project and look forward to working with them and everyone at MNCPPC to develop the best facility to meet their specific needs," noted Cathy Purple Cherry.
