May 03, 2010Cathy Purple Cherry, AIA, LEED AP will be a guest on AutismOne's live radio station, "A Conversation of Hope," with host Teri Arranga on May 11, 2010 at Noon EST. AutismOne is a nonprofit charity organization started by a small group of parents of children with autism. AutismOne works to raise awareness of autism and education and therapies, biomedical research and treatments, advocacy and more through outreach in forums such as national conferences and radio. The live radio show is sponsored by VoiceAmerica Health and Wellness Channel and can be found at www.health.voiceamerica.com. In addition, Ms. Cherry is sponsoring a Think Tank at AutismOne's National Conference in Chicago, IL on Saturday, May 29. "Adult Services & Residential Opportunities" will be the focus of the Think Tank and will feature a discussion with a high-powered panel of parents and professionals who are creating model homes, jobs, schools and communities for a safe and productive future for their adult children with autism. Ms. Cherry is the mother of an 18-year old son with autism and has devoted a studio of her architecture firm to Purposeful Design - designing special buildings for people with special needs. "As an architect and parent of a child with autism, my vision of his world is unique. I hope to bring ideas to the table that will help foster thoughtful learning and peaceful living for our adult children", said Cherry.
